The Honourable Justice Margaret White obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Adelaide in 1966. The following year, Justice White commenced employment with the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service as a Second Officer, lecturing annually on international law and the laws of war. From 1970 to 1982, Justice White served as a full time staff member at the University of Queensland Law School, and in 1983 commenced private practice at the Queensland Bar. In March 1990, Justice White was appointed Master of the Supreme Court of Queensland, and two years later, in April of 1992, was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court.
