Elizabeth Hamilton Hart was born in Brisbane on 31 May 1904. She was educated at Brisbane Girl’s Grammar School and graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts with honours.

After obtaining her degree, Elizabeth entered into articles of clerkship with her father, Mr William Hart of Flower & Hart, and was admitted as a solicitor on 1 October 1929. She was the second woman to be admitted as a solicitor in Queensland.

Elizabeth was employed as a solicitor by Flower & Hart and became a partner of the firm on 1 November 1938. In 1951 she became a senior partner of Flower & Hart and retained that position until her retirement from practice on 31 December 1971.

Elizabeth died on 25 December 1982.
