The Honourable Justice Roslyn Atkinson
graduated with First Class Honours in Law from the University of
Queensland in 1985. Prior to this time, Justice Atkinson had already
completed a Bachelor of Education Studies and Bachelor of Arts Degree,
both from the University of Queensland. While employed as a lecturer in
literature, drama, film and Australian Studies at the Queensland
Institute of Tafe, Justice Atkinson completed her law studies. She then
commenced work as an articled clerk at Feez Ruthning, after which she
was appointed Associate to Sir Gerard Brennan, then Justice of the High
Court. Justice Atkinson was admitted to the bar in 1987, during which
time she became the first member, then the first President of the
Queensland Anti-Discrimination Tribunal. In September of 1998, Justice
Atkinson was appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland.
