University of London

Upon his return to England in March 1944, Edward enrolled as an external student at the University of London in the Faculty of Law. At the conclusion of the war, he, like other RAAF personnel, was stranded in England due to the lack of shipping, and took the opportunity to sit the intermediate examination for the LLB in September 1945. He was granted leave without pay from the RAAF to remain in England and completed his final LLB examinations in June 1946. He graduated from the University of London in Law with second class honours in June 1946.
