Honours and Awards |
A lifetime of service and commitment to the community and the law was recognised by Edward Stratten Williams’ appointment as a Knight of the British Empire in 1981. |

| In recognition of his role in the 1982 Commonwealth Games, Sir Edward was appointed Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George for service to sport. | |

Sir Edward was also named Australian and Queenslander of the Year in 1984, as a consequence of his role in the Commonwealth Games. |
In 1991, Sir Edward was given the title of Honorary Earl of Shaftsbury. This award recognised his contribution to the Shaftesbury Citizenship Centre/Campus, an organisation which aims to enhance the quality of life of the people of Queensland and in particular those who are disadvantaged. |
