A Controversial Admission

Williams returned to Australia in October 1946, and sought to be admitted to the Queensland Bar. Despite the objections of the Barristers’ Board over his qualifications, the Full Court upheld Williams’ appeal, ruling him exempt from the final examination for barristers on the basis of his University of London law degree. He was admitted to the Queensland Bar on 19 November 1946.
