Similarly, the Bar had ample opportunity for friendly vengeance upon those members of the Bench who dared to face them in the annual ‘Bench and Bar’ Golf Day, sponsored by Butterworths and Suncorp Metway. Victors were immortalised on the E.J.D. Stanley Trophy, whilst those of lesser skill were offered generous handicaps to improve their chances on the fairway! These events fostered a spirit of friendly rivalry, relaxation and camaraderie amongst members of the legal profession.
