His
Sporting Life
Justice
Callinan is a keen sportsman, as both a player and a spectator.
Although professing an interest in tennis, cricket, rugby union and
rugby league, it is cricket that is his main game. As a student of
Brisbane Boys Grammar he captained the First XI from 1954 to 1955
and later was also captain of the Brisbane Colts and a member of the Queensland Colts (under 23) side.
Although
less skilled as a rugby player, at Brisbane Grammar he also managed
to make the First XV, an achievement which he described as “a
triumph of determination over ability.”
