| Justice Douglas was
a member of a prominent and distinguished legal family. His
father, grandfather and great-uncle were all eminent former
members of the Supreme Court. At his swearing-in as a Supreme
Court Judge in 1999, he expressed his pride that for over 50
years, the Douglas family has had at least one of its members
sitting on the Supreme Court of Queensland bench.

Court in Townsville between 24 January 1923 and 12 April 1953. |

uncle, Edward Archibald Douglas, was Justice of the Supreme Court
from 22 March 1929 until his death on 27 August 1947.
