Bob Douglas was Patron of the Queensland Blind Association since 1998.

In 1988, Bob joined the Blind Association as Chairman of Campaign Cabinet for Operation Insight. In this role, Bob’s lateral thinking drew upon his passion for horse racing to come to the aid of the charity. Together with racing journalist, Jim Anderson, Bob persuaded his friends in the racing industry to annually auction service fees to outstanding stallions for the Blind Association’s benefit.

This additional funding enabled the establishment of a permanent institution for the blind at Annerley.
