I
went on sabbatical leave in 1972 knowing
that I was finally leaving Rockhampton
and going to Brisbane.
In
Brisbane I took over the
chambers of
Russell Skerman who had retired.
I occupied these chambers until we moved into the new
building that replaced the old Supreme Court that had
been damaged by fire.

One
thing that can be said about lawyers is that they do
not have one track minds. What
is more, there is no perfect criterion of right and wrong in
many cases. Taking a
narrow legal view may produce one result, taking a wider view
another. Judging is a serious business.
