Valda The Hon. Virgil Power Architecture & Design

Valda built in 1880 has since been restored

Valda was built in 1880 on the river in East Brisbane and was home to the honourable Virgil Power. The house was later divided. The servants quarters and children’s wing were relocated to Pullenvale street to become a separate home. The remaining property went through several guises, even becoming a series of self-contained units, before being restored to its former glory.

Painting of Valda

This painting belonged to May Power, daughter of Virgil Power. It was painted around the turn of the century. The vacant area on the right of the painting is now Mowbray Park.
