Biographical Notes
Under Judge Butler's leadership the Crime and Misconduct Commission combined investigative and preventive action in order to promote integrity in the Queensland public sector. In that role he presided in public and private hearings into organized crime and public sector misconduct.
Judge Butler was Counsel Assisting in the Fitzgerald Inquiry and the Townsville Ward 10B Inquiry. He held the position of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions from 1999 to 1996 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 1994.
More recently while in private practice he carried out a Review of the Provision of Legal Services to the Queensland Government (2005) and a Review of the Queensland Mental Health Act 2000 (2006).
