Welcome to the SCQL. The Library has been established to provide legal information services for the judiciary, legal profession and anyone with a matter before the courts. Reference enquiries can be submitted online using our Ask a Librarian form.
Members of the public can access the Brisbane Library during normal opening hours, 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. All visitors must register their details in the Visitors’ Book upon arrival. For further information about the Library, including locations and facilities, see Visiting the SCQL.
Public Gallery
The Library also conducts a range of educational and community programs related to the law in Queensland. Legal history displays and exhibitions are open to the public on level 2, Law Courts Complex (admission is free). This gallery, known as the Rare Books Precinct, features two permanent exhibits: the Library’s Rare Books Room and the replica of the QGSY Lucinda Smoking Room.
